Introducing The New Book And Film Globe

Reviews You Can Use That Will Never Make You Snooze

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the all-new Book And Film Globe, your number-one source for film reviews, book reviews, streaming TV reviews, reviews of Snapchat stories, interviews with people who do interviews, snarky takes on pop-culture idiocy, and anything else that might help you filter the hot flood of content that washes over us all day, every day. We’re here to serve you. And also ourselves. But especially you.

Why do I say the “all-new” Book And Film Globe? Well, the kind and generous owner of this site has been chucking up book reviews  on here since 1995. Think about that for a second. In 1995, The Sopranos didn’t exist. Game Of Thrones was not only not a TV show, it didn’t yet exist as a book. Either did Harry PotterOur reigning Best-Picture Oscar winner was Forrest Gump. Zadie Smith was a student in East London. Norman Mailer and Gore Vidal and Philip Roth were still alive.

The Internet itself barely existed. We had no Facebook, no Twitter. The major online publication, because millennials didn’t yet know how to write, was a very Gen-X deal called Suck. And yet, still, here sat Book And Film Globe, waiting for you like The Love Boat.

Now, apparently, in the Age Of Trump where nothing is real, this site’s time has come. The owner has hired me, a semi-successful American writer, to guide this content ship into glory’s safe harbor. I’ve published ten books of fiction and nonfiction, have written for most magazines and websites, and have covered many different journalistic beats, from politics to drugs to the automotive industry. But Book And Film Globe allows me the opportunity to truly pursue my actual loves: Watching TV and movies and reading books. I have a lot of experience in publishing, and quite a bit of experience in Hollywood. You can read about my failed attempts to dominate the entertainment industry, if you want.

Here I sit all broken-hearted. Tried to become a best-selling novelist, but only farted.

We’re going to bring you great new content every weekday, reviews and commentary from the Internet’s smartest and funniest writers and critics. There will be lots of movie and TV coverage, but also many book reviews. As the site’s owner wrote to me before he hired me, changing his fate, my fate, and the world’s fate forever, “as recently as 20 years ago, there were dozens of stand-alone book review sections put out weekly by every major newspaper in the country. Today there is one.”

And now there are two. Except we’re not a major newspaper in the country. Yet.

We’ll do it with a smile on our face, a song in our hearts, and a bookmark on our nightstand. If the site’s history is indication, we’ll be doing it long after Facebook has turned to ash with a snap of Thanos’ fingers.

He Did It

Enjoy, and hello!

Best,
