Everything That’s Streaming in May 2026

May, the beginning of summer, used to signify rerun season in the pre-streaming days. While this month’s streaming offerings aren’t repeats, they certainly are slimmer than in months past, and some of the biggest titles aren’t even shows; they’re TV movies.

But there’s still plenty to watch this month, from the film adaptation of Remarkably Bright Creatures to the debut of Nic Cage’s Spider-Noir to a new Yellowstone spinoff and the streaming catalog debut of a favorite horror anthology show.

Remarkably Bright Creatures (May 8) — Just in time for Mother’s Day, Sally Field, Lewis Pullman and Alfred Molina (as the voice of Marcellus the octopus) are here to pull on your heartstrings in this adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s bestselling novel about a grieving widow, a grieving young man and the octopus that helps them cope.

Lord of the Flies (May 4) — William Golding’s classic gets re-adapted for television by Adolescence’s Jack Thorne. Will surely be a haunting, harrowing time.

Marty, Life is Short (May 12) — Martin Short looks back at his life of showbiz in this documentary full of classic clips, fresh interviews and archival home movies.

The Boroughs (May 21) — Big month for Alfred Molina on Netflix. When he’s not voicing an octopus, Molina’s in this new sci-fi show produced by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), where he plays a man who fights aliens with the other people in his retirement community.

Ladies First (May 22) — Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike star in a fantasy comedy where Cohen’s ladies man gets hit on the head and wakes up in a parallel world run entirely by women. His boss, Pike, was once his colleague, and now he has to see what the world is like when the gender rules are flipped.

Lisa Ann Walter: It Was An Accident (May 15) —Walter, best known for playing Melissa Schemmenti on Abbott Elementary, debuts the first-ever stand-up special of her 35-year comic career.

The Punisher: One Last Kill (May 12) — Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle returns in this TV movie that continues the Punisher story after his appearance in the Punisher Netflix series and in the new Daredevil series on Disney+. Here, Frank is trying to live a life free of violence and revenge, but that’s easier said than done.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed (May 20) — Tatiana Maslany returns to TV screens in a new thriller comedy about a woman who thinks she witnesses a crime online and gets pulled into a sinister world of blackmail and kidnapping — all while dealing with her divorce and custody battle. Jake Johnson co-stars as the ex-husband, and David Gordon Green is listed as one of the episode directors.

Propeller One-Way Night Coach (May 29) — John Travolta wrote and directed this adaptation of his own 1997 short story about a young airplane enthusiast on his first flight, set during the golden age of aviation and Hollywood.

Star City (May 29) — As For All Mankind embarks on its penultimate season, this spinoff about the alt-history retelling of the space race centers the Soviet perspective. Rhys Ifans stars.

Spider-Noir Season 1 (May 27) — What started as a one-off voice cameo in Into the Spider-Verse is now a real show, as Nicolas Cage stars as 1930s New York private eye Ben Reilly. Viewers can choose to watch either in black and white or in “true-hue” color. Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson co-star.

Good Omens Season 3 (May 13) — The final outing for angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley won’t be a full season, even though it’s being billed as such. Instead, fans will get one 90-minute episode to end the show. This final episode will pick up right where season 2 left off. Neil Gaiman, who co-wrote the source novel with Terry Pratchett, was not involved in the making of this season after Gaiman was accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

Off Campus (May 13) — If you want more Heated Rivalry or hockey romance, this new college soap opera show, adapted from the bestselling book series about a hockey team and the women in their lives, might do the trick.

HBO Max

Miss You, Love You (May 29) — HBO acquired this Sundance film, written and directed by Jim Rash (The Way Way Back, The Descendants), about a grieving widow (Allison Janney) who is forced to plan her late husband’s funeral without her estranged son after her son sends his assistant (Andrew Rannells) instead.

Song of the Samurai (May 9) — The Shinsengumi samurai force gets its own show in this new historical action series about Kyoto in the final years of Japan’s shogunate.

Josh Johnson: Symphony (May 22) — The comedian and The Daily Show correspondent/host debuts his new HBO comedy special, tackling topics like family, religion and relationships.

M.I.A. (May 7) — Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela) is out for revenge against the criminals who killed her entire family in this new, neon-lit, Miami-set crime series from the co-creator of Ozark.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (May 22) — Speaking of revenge: If you missed the re-edited cut of Quentin Tarantino’s revenge film opus when it hit theaters earlier this year, now’s your chance to catch it on streaming. Shudder

Tales From the Crypt (May 1) — Every episode of the ‘90s anthology horror show inspired by the 1950s EC Comics (much like Shudder’s other anthology show, Creepshow) will stream on Shudder starting May 1.

Each episode is a self-contained story hosted by the Crypt Keeper (John Kassir). Guest stars include Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, John Lithgow, Christopher Reeve, Catherine O’Hara, Steve Buscemi and Brooke Shields. Episode directors include Robert Zemeckis, Tobe Hooper, William Friedkin, Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael J. Fox.

Heresy (May 1) — Folk horror fans, this one’s for you. This Shudder exclusive centers on a young woman in a medieval Dutch village who is caught between her faith, fanatic townsfolk and something sinister lurking in the woods.

In Search of Darkness 1990-1994 (May 15) — The six-hour docuseries deconstructs and recontextualizes the state of the horror genre in the 1990s.
