It’s Michelle Williams, B****

Britney Spears fans love her new memoir, but the Internet unanimously agrees that Williams’s audiobook performance is an all-timer

Britney Spears’ new memoir, out last week, debuted as “the highest selling celebrity memoir
“ — and for good reason. In it, the pop star reveals a number of juicy truths from her lifetime in the spotlight, including the abortion she had while dating Justin Timberlake and that her infamous head shaving was the result of postpartum depression.

And Britney fans are responding! “A force to be reckoned with! We got your back ALWAYS, Britney,” tweeted one fan, while another shared, “I just finished reading 📖 #TheWomanInMe & I was especially in tears for the last few chapters happy&sad! Sending all my love & admiration your way Britney!”

Responses to “The Woman in Me” have been overwhelmingly positive, reminiscent of the outpouring of support Spears received during the end of her conservatorship last year. For a great read-through of the memoir’s highlights, I recommend comedian Caitlin Reilly’s Instagram stories.

Uniquely, what has people talking online isn’t just the memoir itself; it’s the audiobook narration by actress Michelle Williams. The “Brokeback Mountain” star brings an old-timey, Mid-Atlantic accent to Spears’ musings, including a very hilarious example of Timberlake’s blaccent

“is michelle williams’s narration of britney’s memoir oscar eligible?” reads one tweet, which includes an example of Williams’ reading.

“Michelle Williams is gonna EGOT thanks to the Britney Memoir,” tweeted writer Rohita Kadambi, “and I think that’s beautiful.”In particular, fans noted Williams’ spot-on Mariah Carey impression, during the section in which Spears recalls first meeting her. “Michelle Williams needs an AWARD for this Britney audiobook okay?!” wrote @niccaracampbell. “Her mimicking THE Mariah Carey has me weak okay?!”
