Everything That’s Streaming July 2025

Summer is in full swing, and that has traditionally meant reruns on traditional TV schedules. This July on streaming continues that trend, with sequels, spinoffs and later season debuts aplenty. Netlix has two types of Sandman sequels, almost every streaming service has some sort of Shark Week programming and Uma Thurman shows up as a mysterious character not once but twice. All that, and you can finally watch Sinners at home.

Happy Gilmore 2 | Official Trailer | Netflix

Happy Gilmore 2 (July 25) — Adam Sandler is back as everyone’s favorite angry slapshot hitter-turned-golf pro. Happy’s back on the links this time to raise money for ballet school for his daughter Vienna (played by Sandler’s real-life daughter Sunny Sandler). Most everyone from the original Happy Gilmore is back (except for Carl Weathers; RIP Chubbs), including Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin.

The Old Guard 2 (July 2) — Andy (Charlize Theron) and her team of immortal warriors are back in Netflix’s ongoing film series adaptation of the comic series from Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez. This time there’s a new villain played by Uma Thurman.

The Sandman Season 2 (Part 1 on July 3) — Part 1 of the second and final season of Neil Gaiman’s popular comic series takes its first bow July 3, followed by Part 2 on July 24 and the final episode July 31.

Showrunner Allan Heinberg maintains that the show was always supposed to end after season 2, even though Netflix’s timing of the show’s cancellation announcement caused speculation among fans. (Netflix made the announcement shortly after Gaiman was accused of sexual assault and misconduct by several women — accusations Gaiman denies.)

At any rate, this season adapts the “Season of Mists” and “Brief Lives” storylines from the comics, where Dream (Tom Sturridge) must come to terms with knowing his actions have hurt the family he cherishes most.

Too Much (July 10) — Creator/writer Lena Dunham returns to television with this London-set miniseries about workaholic New Yorker Jessica, who moves to the UK after a breakup and swiftly meets musician Felix. The show is loosely based on Dunham’s relationship with her husband and promises to explore “what it’s really like dating and falling in love.” Girls fans, rejoice.

Untamed (July 17) — Eric Bana and Sam Neill star as agents of the Investigative Services Branch of the National Parks Service who are looking into a murder in Yosemite National Park in this six-episode mystery thriller. From the looks of it, the show might give Taylor Sheridan’s shows about law enforcement in dangerous places a run for their money.

Washington Black | Official Trailer | Hulu

Washington Black (July 23) — Sterling K. Brown continues his hot streak at Hulu. He executive produces and plays a part in this adaptation of Esi Edugyan’s coming-of-age novel about George Washington “Wash” Black’s escape from slavery and his adventures around the world. Locales include the Underground Railroad in North Carolina; the Arctic; a blimp and the coral reef.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 (Premieres July 9) — The Gang is back for another season of chaos. This season will feature the other (presumably R-rated) version of what happened when Dennis, Mac, Charlie, Frank and Sweet Dee volunteered at Abbott Elementary.

Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires | Official Trailer | Disney+

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires (July 11) — Disney Channel’s blockbuster musical film franchise returns. Zombie Zed and his cheerleader girlfriend Addison have already dealt with inter-species hate, werewolves and aliens. Now, the couple encounters warring factions of vampires (who hail from Sunnyside and Shadyside — a Fear Street reference?) while on a road trip after their first year of college. Expect lots of singing.

Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story (July 11) — What more can be said about Jaws? At least one more documentary’s worth.

National Geographic and Disney wisely placed this documentary about the film that turned Steven Spielberg into a household name for a week ahead of Shark Week, instead of the film’s actual 50th anniversary, which was in June. Prominent Spielberg biographer Laurent Bouzereau directs this look at the film’s lasting legacy.

Foundation — Season 3 Official Trailer | Apple TV+

Foundation Season 3 (July 11) — Apple TV+’s prestige Isaac Asimov adaptation is back for a third season, set 152 years after the events of Season 2. The Foundation and the Cleonic Dynasty have formed an uneasy alliance that’s set to come unraveled by the arrival of “The Mule” (Game of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk), a warlord who can control people’s minds. The trailer looks sleek, and Apple continues its trend of making beautiful shows hardly anyone knows about.

Acapulco Season 4 (July 23) — The final season of Apple TV+’s comedy about the Las Colinas resort hotel features present-day Máximo (Eugenio Derbez) working tirelessly to restore the hotel to its former glory before the grand reopening, while in 1986, young Máximo struggles to get Las Colinas to the top of Acapulco’s “Best Hotels” list.

Heads of State – Final Trailer | Prime Video

Heads of State (July 2) — John Cena plays a former action movie star and current president of the United States. Idris Elba plays the U.K. Prime Minister. When they get shot out of Air Force One, it’s a culture clash buddy comedy as they race to prevent World War III. Sharlto Copley is also on-hand to provide the requisite “Yup. That’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got here” narration.

Ballard (July 9) — Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III, The Protege) gets the action procedural she should have had years ago with Ballard, a new Michael Connelly show about a cold case investigator set in the Bosch universe. Out of everything Amazon Prime has done so far to replicate Reacher’s Dad Programming bonafides, this one looks like it has the juice.

The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Final Season (July 16) — The hit show about young love returns, this time with a marriage plot and a love triangle. Belly finally has to choose who she wants to be with. Cue the Taylor Swift songs.

Sinners | Official Trailer 2

Sinners (July 4) — This column is mostly about new original shows and movies, and not streaming debuts of theatrical films. But Ryan Coogler’s vampire phenomenon works like gangbusters, even on the small screen. Now you can relive that “I Lied To You” moment as much as you want (or until Warner Bros. decides to take it off streaming).

Dear Ms.: A Revolution in Print (July 2) — Ms. magazine gets the documentary treatment from directors Cecilia Aldarondo, Alice Gu and Salima Koroma, with looks at the magazine’s covers, plus never-before-seen archival footage and interviews.

Billy Joel: And So It Goes (July 18 and July 25) — HBO continues its trend of two-part docs about famous people (Paul Reubens, George Carlin, etc.) with this new look at the Piano Man himself. It will feature never-before-seen performances, home movies, and personal photographs.

Shark Week (Starts July 20) — It’s July. It’s the Discovery Channel. It’s a tradition. You know what to do.

Love Island: Beyond the Villa | Official Trailer | Peacock Original

Love Island Beyond the Villa (July 13) — The Love Island phenomenon continues in this spinoff that looks at contestants from Season 6 of Love Island USA and their lives in Los Angeles after being on the show.

Season 7 ends on the same day, so fans can simply switch over to Beyond the Villa to get their fix.

Twisted Metal Season 2 (July 31) — Now that season 1’s road trip through the apocalyptic wasteland is out of the way, it’s time for John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) to finally enter the Twisted Metal demolition derby tournament of the show’s video game namesake. If this sneak peek is any indication, it looks like they got the feeling of playing the game just right.

PUSH | Official Trailer | Shudder

Push (July 11) — This home invasion movie features a twist: Pregnant real estate agent Natalie moves to America after the death of her fiance for a new start. But the challenging new home listing she’s trying to sell turns deadly when she gets stuck in the house with a sadistic killer. As she tries to escape, she goes into labor and has to find a way out before she gives birth.

The film, from David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell, looks to wear its roots on its sleeve — peep the “Craven Road” address on the realtor sign in the trailer.

Monster Island (July 25) — Imagine the first bit of “Kong: Skull Island,” but with the Creature From The Black Lagoon instead of King Kong. That’s Monster Island: A British POW and a Japanese soldier must band together to defeat the Orang Ikan monster. In an homage to Creature, it looks like the monster is an actor in a suit rather than CGI.

THE SHROUDS – Official Trailer

The Shrouds (July 8) — David Cronenberg’s latest film, an examination of grief in the digital age in the wake of his own wife’s death, takes a look at sex, surveillance and our own physical deterioration after death. The Criterion Channel premiered the film with an appointment viewing time on July 8, but the film is exclusively available to stream on the Criterion Channel.

Miami Neo-Noir — Criterion’s monthly programming revolves around blocks of films centered on a theme. The Miami Neo-Noir film block features Body Heat, Miami Blues, China Moon, Out of Sight, Bully and Miami Vice. Sweaty, sexy and cool.

Summer Romances — On the flip side, the Summer Romances block is about all kinds of romances — passionate, doomed, breezy, and everything in between. Films include Pandora and the Flying Dutchman, A Place in the Sun, Roman Holiday, Summertime, Gidget, Splendor in the Grass and The Sandpiper.

D. A. Pennebaker’s Eye on the Century — Finally, this film block examining the work of cinema verité documentarian D. A. Pennebaker arrives on Pennebaker’s 100th birthday. Movies include Don’t Look Back, Monterey Pop, Original Cast Album: “Company,” Town Bloody Hall and Jimi Plays Monterey.

Dexter: Resurrection (July 11) — Yes, this is a new Dexter show, but it’s not a sequel series to Dexter: Original Sin.

It’s a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, with Michael C. Hall’s serial killer relocating to New York City to find his son Harrison. Would you believe things get bloody and out of hand very quickly?

Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado (July 2) — Dora gets another live action film, now with Daniella Pineda (The Accountant 2, Jurassic World Dominion) in the main role. This time around, Dora, Diego, and crew must brave the treacherous Amazonian jungle to find the legendary Sol Dorado treasure. Gabriel Iglesias voices Boots.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 (July 17) — Anson Mount’s Captain Christopher Pike and the rest of the USS Enterprise crew are back in this Star Trek prequel series. The first two episodes drop on July 17, with new episodes every week afterward. It seems this season will continue the show’s penchant for dipping into different genres, with everything on display from romantic comedy to horror to murder mystery, from the looks of the trailer.
