Everything That’s Streaming in September 2026

School’s back in session, and so is the fall TV schedule. This September on streaming is full of reboots, spinoffs and reimaginings — and there’s also a new reboot of a spinoff set at college. There’s also a new Unabomber film that’s largely about Ted Kaczynski’s time at Harvard, a new Ryan Reynolds movie from the folks who made Game Night and the Criterion Channel debut of Neon Genesis Evangelion. A streaming slate as varied as an undergrad’s first semester courseload.

Netflix

UNABOMBER (Sept. 25) — Jacob Tremblay stars as Ted Kaczynski in his Harvard years, subjected to controversial psychological experiments by Professor Henry Murray (Russell Crowe). This chapter of Kaczynski’s past comes up decades later when FBI agent Joanne Miller (Shailene Woodley) leads the manhunt for Unabomber Kaczynski.

DANG! (Sept. 8) — Netflix’s new adult animated series follows two underachieving siblings whose worst nightmare comes true: their high-achieving older sister comes to live with them after a crisis. Stephanie Hsu, Poppy Liu, Andrew Law and Noël Wells star.

A Different World (Sept. 24) — This reboot of the Cosby Show spinoff that originally aired from 1987-1993 features a new class at Hillman College, centering on Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), Whitley and Dwayne’s youngest daughter. Fans can expect to see old favorites like Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree Summer and Darryl M. Bell, as well.

The Drop: A Snowfall Saga (Sept. 8) — This spinoff of John Singleton’s Snowfall series sees 1990s L.A. shift from crack to rap, and a new music scene emerges in South Central.

Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence (Sept. 15) — In what’s being billed as the “first contemporary English language television adaptation of Agatha Christie’s stories,” this new six-episode series places detective duo Tommy (Josh Dylan) and Tuppence (Antonia Thomas) in modern-day London.

“They fall in love, fall out of it, and tumble back in, all while solving some thrilling, entertaining mysteries along the way,” according to the logline from BritBox. Imelda Staunton co-stars.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (Sept. 2) — There’s not much in the way of new premieres over at Disney+ this month except for the streaming debut of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Disney is going all-out. In addition to the movie, there’s a two-episode premiere of The Mandalorian and Grogu Official Podcast and a LEGO Star Wars special that retells key moments from all three seasons of the Mandalorian show.

Brothers (Sept. 23) — Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are back together in a TV show, but this is no True Detective reunion. This comedy series sees the two actors, who are longtime friends in real life, playing fictionalized versions of themselves, who learn they may be brothers.

Mayday (Sept.4) — Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh co-star in this buddy comedy action film about a downed U.S. Navy pilot (Reynolds) who gets stuck behind enemy lines and the ex-KGB agent (Branagh) with a taste for America who finds him. If that’s not enough to convince you, it’s directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the team behind the Dungeons & Dragons movie and Game Night.

Neagley (Sept. 16) — Reacher’s best bud gets her own show. Here, Neagley (Maria Sten) investigates the death of an old friend that seems like murder. Upon further investigation, it looks like the murder is tied to a cult.

Youth (Sept. 20) — Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters, Game Night, Catastrophe) stars in, writes and executive produces this new comedy series about a 50-year-old divorcee’s search for sex and love while parenting her grown son and caring for her aging parents.

Backrooms (Sept. 25) — The horror film sensation of the summer (well, one of them, at least) comes to HBO Max. Don’t get lost.

Mārama (Sept. 11) — Shudder’s “Season of Screams” lineup is here for September and October. The biggest one to look out for is this excellent gothic horror film from New Zealand, about a young Māori woman (Ariāna Osborne) who discovers her horrific colonial heritage after travelling to Victorian England in 1859. It gets bloody and vengeful real quick.

Parasomnia (Sept. 4) — A young woman (Jasmine Mathews) tormented by night terrors and a tragic past starts to suspect a demonic figure from her sleep has crossed over into the real world.

Goody Goody (Sept. 18) — Two expectant parents (Samantha Robinson and Colby Hollman) and their midwife (Colleen Foy) are stuck in a house during a long home birth while a blizzard rages outside. As the weather gets worse, so does the delivery process.

Bloody Tennis (Sept. 25) — Suspiria, but make it tennis. Sophie (Sandra Guldberg Kampp) travels to a cutthroat tennis academy in southern Europe. All that competition and ambition is hiding something sinister going on in the background.

Golden Axe (Sept. 16) — The 1989 SEGA video game gets an animated series adaptation, featuring the voice talents of Matthew Rhys, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre and Danny Pudi.
