Book and Film Globe Podcast #016: Censorship, Danny Trejo, and ‘Free Guy’

Our editor and writers break down the week in culture

On this week’s exciting edition of the Book and Film Globe Week in Review podcast, editor-in-chief Neal Pollack welcomes contributor Sharyn Vane (and the Beach Boys) to talk about censorship. It seems that the Leader Independent School District in Central Texas has taken it upon itself to ban a series of popular award-winning young-adult books, yet again. We don’t take too kindly to censorship at Book and Film Globe.

Then Rachel Llewellyn drops by the podcast barn to talk about the autobiography of the legendary character actor Danny Trejo. Rachel and Neal have both spent significant time in the recovery community, so they can relate to Trejo’s stories of addiction, recovery, and redemption.

Finally, Ayun Halliday returns both to the website and to the movies, and found herself unexpectedly delighted by the Ryan Reynolds/Disney vehicle ‘Free Guy.’
